USA’s new comedy about lawyers.
Nina Whitley (Eliza Coupe) has just been passed over for partner and in turn, has a major meltdown. She resurfaces and becomes a public defender among a strange cast of characters.
I checked this out because of Coupe. I loved her on Happy Endings (RIP). And it’s a pretty funny show. I love Nina and these type of workplace comedies really click with me. It’s the fish out of water aspect but it works. It helps that Coupe is surrounded by other funny people, like Maria Bamford as Cheryl, one of Nina’s fellow public defenders who’s a bit of a mess. I’m truthfully not Jay Harrington’s biggest fan but he’s growing on me. But the show is all Coupe and there is nothing wrong with that.
