I wanted to read more classics this year…I’m way too ambitious.
The synopsis is way too hard but it takes place around Napoleon’s invasion of Russia and the war that takes place. But the focus is also on the people left behind worrying for the soldiers.
I’ve come to the conclusion that I actually love Tolstoy’s work. I mean, yeah, I’d prefer he maybe lost like 500 pages but I was never really bored while reading. He writes great characters who you want the best for (and to live!). I preferred the “peace” sections more than the war parts but both were written extremely well. I wish one of the epilogues (yes, there was more than one!) didn’t get philosophical but overall, I’m glad I read it.
