One of my first reviews on this site was for the movie adaptation of The Odd Couple. I grew up watching the old sitcom and the movie just couldn’t live up to it (sorry Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon! You guys are fantastic in everything else!). When Matthew Perry announced he was remaking it, I was cautiously optimistic.
Felix Unger (Thomas Lennon) has just been informed that his wife wants a divorce. He asks for help from friend and fellow divorced guy, Oscar Madison (Perry). Unfortunately, their personalities couldn’t be more different and they struggle to live together.
It was a little rough in the beginning. But it is a pilot. No, the two actors are not Tony Randall and Jack Klugman, but I think they play off each other well (and I knew this because I love 17 Again). Basically, I’ll watch anything Perry does. I even loved every member of the supporting cast! I was super psyched to see Dave Foley and Lindsay Sloane is hilarious. So, it’s not great, but it could be.
