Disney’s live-action remake of their 1950 animated film.
Ella (Lily James) has a wonderful life with her parents until her mother unfortunately dies. Her father remarries and Lady Tremaine (Cate Blanchett) moves in with her two daughters. Ella becomes more and more like a servant especially after her father passes away. Things seem to change for the better when she meets a young man named Kit (Richard Madden) in the forest.
You know, I’ve come to realize that I enjoy every adaptation of Cinderella. This one was quite lovely and visually stunning. The colors were gorgeous and I wanted all the costumes for real life. I had seen James on Downton Abbey and didn’t like her character but I loved her as Ella. Madden was completely swoon-worthy. And Blanchett was completely evil. Ooh, she made me so mad.
I liked that they focused on both of the romantic leads and their backgrounds. It reminded me somewhat of Ever After, which is one of my all-time favorite movies. Finally one of Disney’s live-action remakes that I truly enjoyed.
