station eleven by emily st. john mandel

Sword & Laser pick.

After a majority of the world’s population dies from the Georgia Flu, we follow three groups of survivors who are somehow connected. One of them is Kirsten Raymonde, a young actress who travels with a group of musicians and actors performing for the others.

I really really loved this book. It was a quick read and so vivid. There were multiple stories but the characters were all intertwined in unusual ways and that was beautiful. It was full of fantastic characters as well and the way the story was told, just wow. I will definitely be reading more of Mandel’s work. It is such a simple story, makes people feel for everyone, and shows that the world can be hopeful after such a disaster. I highly recommend this book.
